Improving, Motivating, and Maintaining Good Health for our Mind, Body, and Spirits.
Welcome
This is a blog that was motivated by mom's emergency visit to the hospital. I, like many of you, want to be a healthier individual. I don't like it when the people I love are threatened by their poor health and I like it even less when that threat could be fatal. I want to be a healthier individual that can also help others by motivating and informing them while undergoing and experiencing my own personal journey towards good health.
So please, feel free to blog about your successes, your failures, your healthy recipes, your personal thoughts, motivational thoughts and feelings, things that exercise our minds, physical exercises or exercise routines that work well, things that exercise or strengthens our spirits, or whatever fits into the category of good health.

My short Term Goal
What am I going to do, or how am I going about doing this?
Well, I have decided that I can plan a rough schedule and hope that Elyas cooperates, if not then whenever I get a chance to exercise I will. The plan is that I will wake up around 6ish AM after feeding Elyas and go do my belly dance routine. At noonish after lunch I will take Elyas for a walk, but if the weather is too bad then I will do mommy and me exercises with Elyas (yoga, etc).
Finally, in the evenings, before I go to sleep (hahahahaha, sleep), I will do a relaxing yoga routine and meditate.
I plan on eating healthy, pretty much following the food pyramid, except I will be cutting dairy out (I think Elyas is allergic or sensitive to dairy).
That is how I plan on losing my 8lbs by Christmas.
I honestly will be happy if Elyas lets me exercise once per day, but we will see what happens :)
Hope all of you and your health goals are going well. Please let me know what you plan on doing this holiday season to stay healthy and fit.
Love Ya!

Baby Steps
I have been sick all week, it just won't go away. I hope to be able to get some exercise next week!
I was reading something the other day about starting up easy and doing one change at a time. Exercise for a couple of weeks or so then work on changing your diet from there or vice versa. The thinking behind this is that your body gets "stressed out" when things change. This way, your body gets used to one change at a time and is more willing to better adjust to your change of habits to help them become more permanent, a part of your new self. Reflecting on this thinking, it makes sense to me. My plan is to work up the momentum, do a bit at a time, it will all add up in the end!

Motivation
So what is your motivation?
For me, there are lots of things I think about...health, making babies, buying cute clothes, being able to keep up with Matthew, and the list goes on. I am still trying to figure it out but I am on the right track! A positive attitude will take me farther!!
Still in search of that balance...

Swimming
There is a lap pool at school that I can use for free. Now I have more motivation, I need to make it there everyday this week so I need to get up in the morning, no more sleeping in too much. The hope is to get some rest, we'll see!
Good luck and have a great week!

Here goes...
Right now, I am focusing on scheduling. School starts back up soon and life will be hectic. I have decreased my intake of junk food which is a start. Actually we are doing it as a family, which helps incredibly. I have been using Matthew's dog Jack as an excuse to get out (boy, does he have a lot of energy). Taking him for a brisk walk for 15 mins or so is a start and if I take Nani too, it will double. When its not too wet out, I take both the dogs to the dog park and walk around for 20-30 minutes. Its wet and cold...I have rain gear and rain boots so I would have no excuse, although they get really muddy and need a bath when we get home.
When school begins, I want to try to take advantage of the free gym stuff I have access to as a student. They have a small lap pool, treadmills, bikes, weights. I need to "schedule" my workouts so I develop a habit and go often. Sleep is another problem during school. I hardly get any because I would rather be up studying. My goal is to get at least 7 hours a night. We'll see.
I am only measuring my waist. If it shrinks, I know I am doing things right. I am not trying to get caught up in the numbers thing with weight, it can be a downer at times.
A website I like is RealAge by Dr. Oz. I have met several women who want to lose a lot of weight like me. We email each other about our goals, our day, inspirations, recipes, anything. It is really quite fun.
I will try to post once a week, don't hold me to that though!!
Woohoo!!

My New Year Goals
Goals are healthy for us, so why not blog about them in our health blog. I wasn't able to go the the New Years Eve party and make new year resolutions, but that doesn't mean I didn't make a list.
I like to do picture collages, but I am still sick so haven't had the energy yet to do so, so I just wrote out a simple list that I will share.
To maintain a clean, fresh, and healthy mind. How?
- Write In My Journal Every Day
- Drink 64oz of H2O each day, 16oz of water before each meal.
- Exercise every day implementing cardio, weights, and stretching
- Eat healthy, well proportioned meals
- Awarding myself for exercising with TV, Video Games, or free time.
- Apply lotion to my skin every morning and night
- Read for an hour each day
- Write for an hour each day
- Practice vocabulary and grammar each day
- To keep notes of all my ideas
- Finish my book and submit it to at least ten publishers
;)
