There are a couple of new things that I have been doing lately.
1. 1 sweet day a week.
How it is working and why I am doing it:
I decided to try this when I over heard some girls at church talking about their sweet day. It inspired me, especially since lately it seems that if I get my hand on some goodies they disappear in .2 seconds, or if I make something, say a batch of cookies or a pan of brownies they are also going to be my victim as well, and Chris will probably be lucky if he gets 2 cookies or brownies, because the rest end up inside my tummy.
I have always had trouble cutting sugar completely out, because when I do I begin to obsess over it. Then I fall, HARD, and it is hard to get back up. So I thought that by limiting myself and also allowing myself to one sweet day a week will keep me from sneaking the goodies when trying to cut out sugar and also will help me by allowing me to have that day where I can eat some goodies and I only go over my calorie intake once a week. Hooray for my tummy and taste buds.
2. Getting physical exercise each day.
I have been taking advantage of the sunshine by going for a walk each day with the kids. A couple of things I've been doing to challenge myself while I walk is:
- I either flex my tummy or my butt while I walk so that I am focusing on my body and my physical goals, and also getting extra benefits from my workout.
- I add a little to my walk each day, so far it has been a street or a block each day. For instance, when I started it was up and down the neighborhood street. The next day it was around the entire block. The next day it was around 2 blocks. Yesterday it was around 2 blocks and up and down the neighborhood street. Tomorrow, I think it will be three blocks. You get the picture. Each time I walk a little further I feel like I have accomplished something great. It has been great for my self esteem.
3. Getting social exercise each week.
I don't get out and see my friends every day, sometimes Chris is the only person I physically see in a day. However, I do have a playgroup once a week that I go to to meet with other moms and let Elyas and November play with kids their age. It is good for all of us. I am really enjoying it and it is helping me build friendships, which is also great for my self esteem and I think it also improves my marriage.
4. Getting spiritual exercise each week.
I have been going to church every Sunday with Elyas and November, it has been great. Not only are we getting to build friendships and socialize, but we are also building our spirituality and our testimony. I always feel so empowered and good when I come home from church.
